A new bridge for the Partnachklamm gorge
The Partnachklamm gorge in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany is a popular tourist destination. In February 2022, a tree trunk that fell in a storm damaged the gorge’s well-known “Iron Bridge”. As a result, the path through the gorge was closed for a long time.
To provide safe access for visitors, a temporary solution was needed until the new bridge structure could be put in place.
Heavy equipment was needed to transport the damaged bridge out of the gorge. It was only in the second attempt that a heavy-lift helicopter succeeded in doing the job.
